NHL Report: Proline Betting Trends Favor Oilers in High-Stakes Conference Final Against Stars
With the Stanley Cup Playoffs heating up, the Edmonton Oilers are proudly carrying the torch for Canada as the nation’s last remaining team in the hunt for the Cup. As they prepare for a high-stakes rematch in the Western Conference Final against the Dallas Stars, they’re not just getting support from fans in Alberta—but from Proline bettors across the country.
According to data from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), a significant majority of Proline players are showing strong faith in the Oilers heading into the opening game of the series. Seventy-two per cent of bettors are picking Edmonton to win Game 1, scheduled for Wednesday night in Dallas. Additionally, 69 per cent are siding with the Oilers on the +1.5 goal spread, further underscoring public confidence in the team.
This Western Conference Final marks a repeat of last year’s playoff clash between Edmonton and Dallas, which saw the Oilers emerge victorious en route to their Stanley Cup Final appearance. Fans and bettors alike are hopeful history will repeat itself, especially with the team gaining momentum and attention on both sides of the border.
Zach Hyman, who’s been a standout performer throughout the postseason, has become the go-to goal scorer for Proline bettors, reflecting his consistent ability to find the back of the net. With Connor McDavid leading the charge and a seasoned roster behind him, the Oilers appear well-positioned to mount another deep playoff run.
Elsewhere in the NHL playoffs, Canadian hopes were dashed for fans of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Winnipeg Jets. Toronto’s season ended in dramatic fashion with a crushing 6-1 loss to the Florida Panthers in Game 7 of their second-round series. Only 20 per cent of Proline bettors correctly predicted Florida’s upset, though just over 50 per cent anticipated the game would go over 5.5 total goals.
Florida is once again looking like a powerhouse after a 5-2 victory in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final against the Carolina Hurricanes—another rematch from last year’s playoffs. Fifty-three per cent of Proline users picked the Panthers to win the opener, and 52 per cent bet on the game going over 5.5 goals.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Stars secured their place in the Western Final by edging out Winnipeg with a tense 2-1 overtime win. While 47 per cent of Proline bettors backed the Stars to take that game, only 29 per cent had faith in the Jets to cover the +1.5 goal spread. A larger portion, 64 per cent, correctly bet the under at 5.5 goals.
Outside the rink, Proline bettors also saw action in the NBA playoffs and PGA Championship. Notably, only 17 per cent had Scottie Scheffler winning the PGA title, though 40 per cent correctly predicted a top-10 finish.
As the Oilers look to continue their playoff push, the growing wave of support from Proline players highlights the excitement—and belief—that Edmonton could be Canada’s best chance at reclaiming Stanley Cup glory.
