BTS’s Jin may have tried to slip past fans unnoticed, but nothing escapes the eyes of ARMY. The eldest BTS member recently put his fans’ loyalty and powers of observation to the ultimate test — and unsurprisingly, they passed with flying colours.
Earlier this week, during Coldplay’s final concert in South Korea, Kim Seok-jin made an unexpected appearance that had fans buzzing. Now 32 and fresh from completing his mandatory military service, Jin appeared on stage disguised as a large green alien, wearing a comical full-head mask that rendered him nearly impossible to identify at first glance.
But even an elaborate costume wasn’t enough to fool BTS’s devoted fanbase. The moment videos and photos from the concert began circulating online, ARMY quickly went into detective mode. It didn’t take long before fans began identifying telltale signs — from his posture and hand gestures to even the shape of his legs.
“Noticed the closed hands — ARMY can even recognise his fingers,” one fan proudly commented on X (formerly Twitter). Another added, “I would’ve guessed this was Jin just from those legs.”
During the performance of Breakaway at the “Lightclub” segment of Coldplay’s show, Jin donned the same alien costume previously worn by Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin, further fueling the excitement. Fans were thrilled not only by his presence but also by the playful spirit he brought to the stage. As one user posted, “Seokjin disguised himself as the second alien and danced during Breakaway wearing Jonny’s alien mask. You guys saw this live??”
Jin’s surprise appearance marked a special moment for fans who have been eagerly awaiting his return. It was his first public concert appearance since his discharge from military service, making it even more memorable.
