Florida forward Sam Reinhart missed Game 3 due to a lower-body injury sustained from a knee-on-knee hit by Sebastian Aho early in Thursday’s contest. Though no further disciplinary action was taken against Aho, the Panthers clearly didn’t forget the play — and neither did Tkachuk.

As the third period unfolded, Tkachuk took matters into his own hands. He was seen repeatedly slashing Aho, roughing him up along the boards, and even wrestling him to the ice in what looked like a calculated act of retribution. The referees stepped in to separate the two and eventually sent Tkachuk to the penalty box with a minor.

But Tkachuk didn’t appear fazed in the slightest.

From the penalty box, he continued jawing at Aho, making it clear that the Panthers weren’t going to let the Game 2 hit slide. His message was simple: If you go after one of us, you go after all of us.

After the game, Tkachuk addressed the incident, emphasising the team-first mindset that has defined Florida’s playoff run.

“It’s about standing up for your teammates,” Tkachuk said, via Panthers digital content manager Jameson Olive. “We’re a family in there. It could’ve been any one of us. There were probably 20 guys ready to step up and defend a teammate like that.”

That loyalty has become a defining characteristic of this Panthers squad — a team that has embraced a gritty, all-for-one mentality on their journey through the playoffs.

Tkachuk’s willingness to sacrifice two minutes in the box to stand up for Reinhart only strengthened that narrative. In a high-stakes, emotional postseason series, it was another example of Florida’s physical edge and psychological intensity.
