The Orange Bowl Committee (OBC), a prestigious nonprofit sports organization that has played an essential role in South Florida’s sports and community development, is thrilled to announce that Henri W. Crockett has been named the 87th president and chair of the committee. This marks a significant moment in OBC history, as Crockett becomes the first former Orange Bowl player to step into the role of president.
A native of Pompano Beach, Florida, Crockett’s deep connection to the Orange Bowl dates back to his collegiate days as a football player. He earned an athletic scholarship to Florida State University, where he became a vital part of the Seminoles’ ACC Championship teams from 1993 to 1997. Crockett played a key role in Florida State’s national championship victory in the 1994 Orange Bowl, which saw the Seminoles triumph over the Nebraska Cornhuskers with an 18-16 win. This historic victory not only etched Crockett’s name into the annals of Orange Bowl history but also cemented his personal bond with the event.

In his new role, Crockett will oversee the OBC’s mission to support South Florida through a variety of community-based initiatives, as well as its large-scale sports events. One of the highlights of his tenure will be overseeing the 2026 College Football Playoff (CFP) Quarterfinal at the Capital One Orange Bowl, set for January 1, 2026, at Hard Rock Stadium. The committee will also play a pivotal role in hosting the 2026 CFP National Championship Game on January 19, 2026, through its leadership in the 2026 CFP National Championship Game Miami Host Committee.
Crockett’s work extends far beyond the football field. As a philanthropist and community leader, he is the co-founder and president of the Crockett Foundation, a Broward County-based nonprofit dedicated to providing innovative after-school and summer youth development programs, including coding programs for middle school students. These programs have had a profound impact on the lives of young people in the region, aligning perfectly with Crockett’s passion for youth empowerment.
The Crockett Foundation also organizes significant community events such as the Crockett Foundation Weekend, which includes a black-tie gala, golf tournament, and youth football camp. The Foundation’s annual Community Health Festival, launched in 2009, has become a beloved event in Broward County, focusing on promoting healthy lifestyle choices and providing valuable health education to local families.
Crockett’s commitment to community development is matched by his success in the business world. He is the president and CEO of South Florida Development & Investment Company, Guaranteed Enterprise Trucking Services, and Vanity Salon. Crockett holds a Bachelor of Science degree in criminology from Florida State University and is an active member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, reflecting his dedication to academic achievement and community service.
While Crockett steps into the role of president, Michael E. Moran moves into the position of president-elect, with plans to assume the role of the 88th president and chair during the 2026-2027 year. Hector Tundidor Jr. will serve as the first vice-chair and will take over the presidency in 2027-2028. Eric L. Poms continues his leadership role as the OBC’s chief executive officer, entering his 20th year in that position and his 32nd year with the organization.
The Orange Bowl Committee has long been a cornerstone of South Florida’s sports culture, with events that span college football, community engagement, and youth development. Crockett’s appointment as president signals the continuation of the OBC’s legacy of excellence, both in athletics and in its support of the community.
