King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s 2025 Canadian Visit: A Historic Celebration of Heritage, National Unity, and Sovereignty Honouring Tradition, Democracy, and the Crown’s Enduring Role.

From May 26 to 27, 2025, Canada will welcome Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla on a landmark Royal Visit, marking the first Canadian tour by the King since his Coronation. This momentous occasion reinforces Canada’s identity as a proud constitutional monarchy and deepens national appreciation for the enduring bond between the Crown and Canadian democracy.

This two-day visit, focused in Ottawa, is steeped in both ceremony and meaningful engagement. It is the 20th time His Majesty King Charles III will set foot on Canadian soil, and the 6th visit for Her Majesty Queen Camilla. The visit underscores the significance of the monarchy’s ongoing relationship with Canada, not only symbolising tradition and unity but also acting as a catalyst for community connection and national reflection.

Day One: A Warm Welcome and Community Celebration

The Royal Visit begins on May 26 with Their Majesties arriving in Ottawa, where they will be received by Canadian dignitaries and honoured by a ceremonial guard from the Royal Canadian Dragoons. The public will have the opportunity to join in a community celebration at Lansdowne Park, where King Charles III and Queen Camilla will engage with a range of Canadian individuals and organisations representing the country’s rich cultural fabric and diversity.

Later, Their Majesties will proceed to Rideau Hall, the official residence of the Governor General and their residence during their stay in Canada. Here, King Charles will participate in a ceremonial tree planting, joined by Viceregal representatives, community leaders, and schoolchildren — symbolising growth, renewal, and shared stewardship of Canada’s natural heritage.

The King will then hold separate audiences with Governor General Mary Simon and Prime Minister Mark Carney. These meetings reflect the vital constitutional role of the Crown within Canada’s democratic governance, offering a moment for dialogue between Canada’s Head of State and its elected leaders.

Day Two: Parliamentary Ceremony and National Remembrance

The following morning, on May 27, Their Majesties will travel in regal fashion down Wellington Street aboard Canada’s State Landau, escorted by the iconic Royal Canadian Mounted Police Musical Ride. Their destination: the Senate of Canada Building.

At 11:00 am, His Majesty will deliver the Speech from the Throne, officially opening the 45th Parliament of Canada. This key constitutional tradition sets the direction for the new parliamentary session, outlining the Government’s priorities and plans.

The visit will conclude with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at the National War Memorial to honour Canada’s fallen. Marking the 25th anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, this tribute pays homage to more than 116,000 Canadians who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.

As Their Majesties bid farewell to Canada, the 2025 Royal Visit will be remembered as a powerful reaffirmation of shared history, enduring loyalty, and the evolving relationship between Canada and the Crown.
